Kakinada: The Amalapuram Rural police have arrested Ummithi Durga Prasad (35) of Peruru village, nine years after he impregnated a minor girl. The arrest was made under POCSO Act.
The complaint was made to the police when the girl was seven months pregnant. It said the accused courted the girl by professing love to her. He has been absconding since then.
On a tip-off, a police team went to FCI Colony at Miyapur in Hyderabad and arrested the accused. He was brought to Amalapuram rural police station on Wednesday.
The police produced the accused before the magistrate court in Amalapuram. He was remanded to custody for 14 days.
