Visakhapatnam: Renowned telugu writer hangs herself
Visakhapatnam: Well-known writer Poosala Jagaddhatri on Saturday committed suicide by hanging in Vizag. The incident came to light after the watchman in her apartment alerted one of her relatives that she hadn’t opened the door since the morning.
Jagaddhatri had left her family and moved in with writer and poet Ramatirtha, who passed away due to a cardiac arrest in May. After his demise, Jagaddhatri was suffering from depression. The suicide note also conveyed the same. Her relationship with Ramatirtha had disrupted the two families; during a condolence meeting for Ramatirtha, his daughter slapped Jagaddhatri on the stage accusing the writer of driving a wedge between her and her father. Jagaddhatri’s daughter too refused to speak to her.
Jagaddhatri and Ramatirtha had fallen in love during their student days. On Saturday, her husband Siva Prasad said that he will perform her last rites.
Jagaddhatri was a well-known columnist, having also written for the Andhra Bhoomi Telugu daily. Her poetry Sahacharanam was well-received. She had translated several books from English to Telugu and vice versa.
In one her two suicide notes, she said that she was depres-sed and held no one responsible for her death. The other letter was written to Rajesh who had assisted her. In the letter, she has asked him to take the furniture in the home and her car. She also requested him to give all her bank documents to her husband.
