Hyderabad: The residents of Vani Nagar in Malkajgiri were in for a shock after a plate with eggs, lemon and a stick figure made of dough covered with chilli and turmeric powder was found on the middle of the road on Friday morning.
This scared the locals and black magic was suspected.
Police are suspecting that unidentified men might have left it on the road late on Thursday night at around 2 am.
“We found the plate on the road with chilli and turmeric powder on Thursday morning. At that time, we thought that it was some leftover food but upon closer look, it looked like someone had performed black magic and nobody dared touch it,” said Raju Yadav, a local.
Another local said that it reminded him of the sensational Chilkanagar case where a baby was beheaded to perform ‘kshudra puja’ by a couple early in January.
However, the Malkajgiri police brushed off the hullabaloo around the issue and said that it was just another ritual done by someone to ward off an evil eye.
“We threw the plate and asked the public not to worry about it as the hype would only trigger unnecessary panic among locals,” the police said.
