Bengaluru: Pillion rider dies in accident

The two fell down, while Shubham hit his head against the kerbstone of the footpath.

Bengaluru: A youth riding pillion died on the spot, while the rider sustained grave injuries after the latter lost control and hit a footpath kerb opposite in Koramangala early on Friday.

The deceased, Shubam, 30, was from West Bengal. His friend Sagar, 28, is being treated at a private hospital. The two worked at a coffee shop in BTM Layout and were on their home after work around 1 am. Sagar, who was speeding, lost control of the bike and hit the footpath. The two fell down, while Shubham hit his head against the kerbstone of the footpath. He died on the spot. Passerby alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a hospital.

The police said that the accident occurred on Water Tank Road opposite St. John’s Hospital. Sagar, who is undergoing treatment, is said to be out of danger.

The Adugodi traffic police have registered a case.
