National-level minor volleyball player accuses coach of rape, threats

Rewari (Haryana): A minor girl from Rewari district who is a national-level volleyball player accused her coach of sexually abusing her for the last two and a half years.

The girl decided to go to the police after her coach threatened to kill her if she dared to disclose about the crime to anyone.

The coach is currently posted in the office of district sports department in Rewari.

Police have initiated investigations after registering a case at the Jatusana plice station on Sunday night.

In her written complaint to the police, the girl has alleged that the coach raped her at Gurgaon, Rohtak and one other location.

According to the police, a case has been filed against the accused coach Gaurav Deshwal under POCSO Act and has been presented in the court.

The complainant has alleged that she was first abused in January 2016, when she had accompanied the accused coach and the woman official to Gurgaon to play in the state-level volleyball tournament.

While the coach is yet to be arrested, the police said investigation is underway and the coach will be arrested soon.
