ANANTAPUR: Mudigubba police on Saturday seized an Innova vehicle with a MLA sticker and arrested five persons who were in the vehicle along with ganja.
Police said the MLA sticker in the name of Raptadu MLA T. Prakash Reddy had been to evade payments at National Highway toll plazas and other check posts.
Providing details, Anantapur Range DIG Ammi Reddy said Mudigubba head constable Narasimha Murthy and his team on night beat noticed an Innova car (AP09CH 2373) trying to evade checks by police. Police chased the vehicle and detained the driver and five others.
Naga Bhaskar of Anantapur owned the Innova vehicle. He fixed a duplicate sticker of the MLA and reached Molakalacheruvu to purchase ganja from a person named Javid. Naga Bhaskar and his five friends each purchased 20 grams of ganja by paying around ₹1,800 on Friday night.
The gang waylaid a scooterist at Kalasamudram and got ₹3,000 cash transferred by PhonePe into their account. Later they hit an auto while driving in an uncontrolled manner in Mudigubba town.
In addition to Naga Bhaskar, police have arrested Binna Farid, D. Karim, Metla Deepak and G. Karthik.
