Hyderabad: A 30-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 41-year-old person who brought her to the city under the pretext of sending her to Muscat in Oman.
According to the police, the accused Murthy under the pretext of sending her to the Gulf region for a job brought her to the city from Andhra Pradesh.
The victim was offered a job in Muscat by the employers who also sent her flight tickets. All the documents were arranged and the victim during the immigration checks failed to answer properly.
M. Venkatesham addl. inspector Gopalpuram, said, “The immigration officials thinking her to be a bonded labour did not allow her to board the flight. Following this, the accused accompanied the victim till Secunderabad railway station. Instead of sending her back to her hometown, the accused took a room in a lodge near Secunderabad railway station. The accused forced himself on her on Saturday.”
The victim lodged a complaint with the Gopalapuram police on Sunday. The cops registered a case under section 376 IPC — committing rape and 506 IPC — punishment for criminal intimidation and arrested the accused.
