Bengaluru: Home alone 80-year-old robbed at farmhouse
Bengaluru: Three unidentified men sneaked into a bungalow in Doddabommasandra and robbed an 80-year-old woman of cash, gold ornaments and antique jewellery, early Sunday.
The woman, identified as Ila Chandrashekhar, was gagged by the burglars when she tried to shout for help. The woman was living with her 55-year-old specially-abled son in the bungalow located on a farm.
The incident took place at around 1 am on Sunday at the Mookambika Farm House, where the bungalow is located. According to a complaint filed by Ila at the Vidyaranyapura police station, the burglars entered her bungalow through the first floor and entered the room where she was sleeping.
As she woke up on hearing the noise, the burglars put tape on her mouth and tied her hands and legs. They took away four gold bangles, ancient beads and Rs 30,000 in cash, she stated in her complaint.
Ila told police that she suspected the burglars were someone known to her, as they kept asking questions relating to her family and they even enquired about the ring which I always used to wear.
She told police that the robbers were talking in Kannada and knew everything about her and her family. Police said there were only two people in the bungalow, while their caretakers live in a separate house on the farm premises. Ila’s specially-abled son was sleeping in his bedroom on the first floor and is said to have heard nothing, the police said.
The Vidyaranyapura police have registered a case and are investigating. The police said that there was no security guard at the bungalow and nor any CCTV cameras.
