Bengaluru: Deputy Director of Agricultural Marketing in ACB net

Gayatri was not issuing the licence and was allegedly demanding Rs 30,000 as bribe.

Bengaluru: The Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Marketing at the Yeshwanthpur APMC Yard, T.P. Gayatri, was trapped by the sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while she was accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000. Agricultural product suppliers, who wish to supply products to government-run agricultural outlets and Anganawadis, have to compulsorily obtain a licence from the Department of Agricultural Marketing.

The complainant had submitted an application to get the license, but Gayatri was not issuing the licence and was allegedly demanding Rs 30,000 as bribe. “The applicant filed a complaint with the ACB, and a trap was laid on Friday. Gayatri was caught red handed, while accepting Rs 30,000 as bribe from the complainant and was arrested,” an official said.
