Vanasthalipuram: Youth steals bikes for lavish lifestyle, nabbed
Hyderabad: A 25-year-old person working for a private firm became a bike thief to fulfill his lavish needs. He was arrested by the Rachakonda Police at Vanasthalipuram on Thursday.
Police said that Jitteboina Naresh, who dropped out after Intermediate, targeted bikes parked outside bars and wine shops, by opening them with duplicate keys. When questioned why he was committing the offence, he escaped saying that he was under the effect of alcohol, and mistook that bike for his. Police recovered 16 stolen bikes worth Rs 9 lakh from his possession.
Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said, based on old cctv footage at a wine shop, the Vanasthalipuram crime team identified the suspect moving on a stolen bike during and nabbed him. On inquiry, he confessed that he was involved in bike thefts in the past.
He was earlier arrested in 2015 by Nalgonda Police at Huzurnagar in a bike theft case and in an extortion case in 2016. A history sheet is also opened against him at Huzurnagar police station. In the same year, he was also arrested in a cheating case.
After being released on bail, he started working as a supervisor in Snehasree Polis Max Company at Huzurnagar. Meanwhile, he also got addicted to liquor and smoking for which his earnings were not sufficient.
“He confessed to 16 cases including seven cases in Vanasthalipuram, one each in Chilkalguda, Huzurnagar and Mahabubabad police station limits. Bikes worth '9 lakh were recovered from his possession. Another 6 cases are being verified.” said the commissioner.
Inquiries revealed that Naresh got married recently, but his criminal record is not known to his wife and her family.
“ His parents knew about his criminal past, but they did not reveal it during marriage. His wife is now pregnant and is at her maternal home. His wife and in laws will be shocked after knowing about this arrest.” said an investigating official
