Hyderabad: 2 held for selling cattle meat
Hyderabad: Pahadishareef police arrested two persons on Thursday for selling cattle meat. The accused are said to have been involved in eight cases of cattle theft.
Pahadishareef inspector Laxmikanth Reddy identified the accused as Uttar Pradesh natives Akthar Ali and Mohd Nousad, both 22. They had worked together in cold storage.
“They used to observe cattle sheds at Jalpally, Mamidipally and Ravirala during the day. They would return at night with knives and plastic bags, slaughter the cattle and pack the meat and take it away. They sold the meat to three others,” the official said.
The accused had migrated to the city a decade ago in search of jobs, he said. Akthar would commit the offence to pay for his family and to cater to his lavish needs. To help him butcher the meat, he involved his friend Nousad who helped him in spotting cattle sheds and later on in selling the meat. Police recovered cattle meat and some cash, all amounting to Rs 4 lakh A case under IPC Section 379 (theft) was registered against them.
