Hyderabad: Two drunks allegedly assaulted a constable and a home guard when they tried stepped in to calm them down at a bar in Vanasthalipuram on Wednesday night. The duo, C. Ramu and G. Ganesh, both 22, was arrested on Thursday.
According to Police, Ramu and Ganesh went to Darbar bar and restaurant on Sagar Road on Wednesday night and consumed alcohol. After getting heavily drunk till late night, they started creating a row when the staff asked them to leave at about 11.45 pm. The bar staff called the police.
A night patrol rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the duo. When they did not quieten down, the police tried to bring them out of the premises.
Angered with this, the duo twisted the constable’s hand. They caught the home guard by his shirt and assaulted him. They were subdued and taken to the police station.
Vanasthalipuram inspector S. Murali Krishna said a case under IPC Section 332 (causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) was booked against Ramu and Ganesh.
They were arrested and produced before the court on Thursday and sent to remand.
