6 arrested for lynching man due to rumours
Hyderabad: Bibinagar police arrested six persons on Thursday for the alleged lynching of a person in Jiyapally on Tuesday, following rumours of gangs of kidnappers and dacoits making the rounds of different villages.
The police also named another 12 persons for the murder, based on a complaint of Mr Nimmala Narsimha Goud, 50, brother of the victim Nimmala Balakrishna.
DCP, Yadadri, E. Ramachandra Reddy identified the arrested persons as Dharavath Mallesh, 25, Dharavath Srinu, 35, Dharavath Ravi, 26, Muddu Ravu, 23, Dharavath Srikanth, 19 and Md. Jahangir, 24.
On Tuesday night, Balakrishna, a resident of Korremula, was visiting his relatives in Jiyapally on Tuesday. At about 10.30 pm, some locals spotted him wandering around and suspected that he belonged to one of the gangs.
As Balakrishna was inebriated, he could not provide satisfactory answers which further agitated the villagers who beat him up till he died. A case has been registered against all the accused under IPC sections related to rioting, unlawful assembly and murder.
Police appealed to the people not to believe rumours about gangs robbing or kidnapping people, and suspect people walking on the streets.
