Bengaluru: Over 19,000 fake voters have been added to the voters list in the K.R. Puram Assembly constituency, alleged BJP city president N.R. Ramesh, here on Wednesday. He has lodged a complaint before the state chief election commissioner along and submitted documents supporting his allegations.

He said that under the RTI, he had sought information from 28 assembly constituencies in Bengaluru on the details of voters added and deleted between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. “After 11 constituencies submitted their reports, we found that 19,000 fake voter identity cards have been issued in the K.R Puram constituency,” he alleged.

“People from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have been registered on the voters list by producing fake lease agreements. We also identified over 3,000 Bangladeshi immigrants who have been added to the list using fake Aadhaar cards, ration cards and passports,” he alleged, maintaining that this information was unearthed in a sting operation by BJP workers.

“Over 6,000 voters from the Reddy, Brahmin, Vaishya and Marwadi communities, who traditionally vote for the BJP, have been deleted from the list, while fake identities have been added,” he said.

A complaint has been filed against data entry operators of the constituency. A criminal case has also been registered against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants as it is a threat to national security, he said, and demanded an investigation by the Election Commission.
