Youth drowns in swimming pool in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A 19-year-old youth who had gone for swimming at a private swimming pool drowned. Abdul Rizwan Khan was swimming in waters six feet deep when he drowned, on Tuesday.
According to police, Md Abdul Rizwan Khan, 19, went to the YSP swimming pool at Yakuthpura with three of this friends. Sources said all four knew how to swim well and Abduk in fact, was a regular at the pool.
Around 15 others were in the pool during the time of the incident. Around 4.30 pm, all four of them started diving. But while his friends were swimming in shallower depths, Abdul went into the deep end.
“He was swimming normally for a couple of minutes and then others too got busy. But he drowned all of a sudden and by the time others noticed, he was underwater,” said Reinbazar inspector G. Ramesh.
Abdul was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him dead. There were reports that had claimed the boys had bet money to find out who could swim in the deep end. But Abdul’s family have denied the reports police too have established there's no truth to the claims.
Based on a complaint from the family, a case for causing death through negligence has been registered against the pool’s chief coach Saleem Laskar and the body was handed over to the family after postmortem.
