Pregnant woman attempts suicide in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A 27-year-old pregnant woman allegedly attempted suicide by consuming rat poison near the women's police station at CCS on Monday. Her relatives said that Reshma Begum, who is diabetic, was depressed as her husband was having an affair with another woman and that when she approached the police they did not respond.
She came to the women's police station to complain against her husband, but when she did not get any response, she came out and consumed rat poison. Police took her to the Koti Maternity Hospital, from where she was shifted to Osmania Hospital. Doctors said she is out of danger.
Reshma Begum, who hails from Nizamabad and Akther Ahmed, a used cars dealer from Hyderabad fell in love and got married nearly six years ago. Reshma had noticed that her husband was getting calls late in the nights. When she asked him about it he diverted the issue and they had a quarrel on it when she snatched his phone one night when he got a call.
Her relatives said that when she approached the police to complain against her husband for having an affair with another woman they did not respond. "Despite her pregnancy she went to the police station at least four times a day, but they did not respond. When she went to CCS they said they will call and talk to him but did not respond," said her relative Vani.
Jubilee Hills inspector S. Venkat Reddy said the victim approached them on Friday and alleged that her husband was having an affair. He said couple was counselled and they agreed to reconcile.
On Sunday she approached stating that he is missing. “We immediately registered a missing case (crime no: 324/2016). We are trying to trace him. His location was traced to Attapur and Karvan,” Mr Reddy said, adding that teams have been are formed to trace him.
