Actor’s house burgled in Arumbakkam
Chennai: An actor’s house in Arumbakkam was broken into on Tuesday and about 41 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 10,000 stolen. police areconducting inquiries with two domestic helps.
According to the police, 50-year-old Iman alias Iman Annachi who acts in Tamil movies lived with his wife and children at Venkata Krishna Nagar in Arumbakkam.
While his family left for their hometown in Tirunelveli 10 days ago, he stayed back. The jewels and Rs 10,000 were kept in a cupboard in his house.
He had seen that the valuables were intact on Good Friday and went to church and then left for shooting.
When he returned home on Tuesday, he found them missing.
The police said the cupboard’s lock was not tampered with. So, it is suspected that the thief used duplicate keys to open it.
Based on a complaint from Iman, the Arumbakkam police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for the suspects with the help of CCTV footage retrieved from the locality.
A police team and fingerprint experts went to the spot and picked up some sets of prints from the doorknob and the cupboard.
They have later been sent for analysis to the forensic laboratory. Two domestic helps are being questioned in connection with this. Arumbakkam police registered a case and furthur investigations are on.
