Woman raped at gunpoint by brother-in-law in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar

A case under various sections has been filed against the constable and his family members but no arrests have yet been made.

Muzaffarnagar: A police constable and his two brothers allegedly gang raped his wife after she failed to fulfil their demands of dowry.

The incident took place in Khatauli in Muzaffarnagar and the police constable has been suspended.

According to a complaint filed by the woman on Monday, her husband and six other family members, including her father-in-law and mother-in-law, had been harassing her over dowry.

The complainant, who married the accused in 2014, alleged that she was gang raped by her husband and two brothers-in-law over dowry demands.

A case under various sections has been filed against the constable and his family members but no arrests have yet been made.

The accused, however, has been suspended after the complaint was filed by his wife.

In another incident, an eight year-old girl was allegedly raped at knifepoint by a man in a village in Balrampur, police said on Tuesday.

The girl was returning from her agriculture field when the accused Chunnu, 28, dragged her into a field and allegedly raped her at knifepoint on Monday.
