7 relatives held for TRS man's death

According to the police, families of Srinivas and Dasu had a fight over a land at Mylaram village for the past 15 years.

Hyderabad: Vikarabad Police on Tuesday arrested seven persons in connection with the alleged murder of TRS worker Pendyala Srinivas at Dharur town on Sunday .

Police said that four people allegedly waylaid and brutally attacked Srinivas with wooden logs and killed him while the three others were involved in the murder conspiracy. The suspects identified as Dasu, Prashanth, Arun, Ratnam, Krishnaiah, Bhaskar and Praveen are said to be distant relatives of the deceased.

DSP Vikarabad Sirisha Raghavender ruled out political aspects behind the murder and said that a 15-year-old dispute over the distribution of a 10-acre agricultural land at Mylaram village led to the murder.

According to the police, families of Srinivas and Dasu had a fight over a land at Mylaram village for the past 15 years. As there could not reach a consensus regarding the distribution of land, both parties approached the Civil Court and the High Court in Hyderabad and the case is pending before the court.

The deceased allegedly strongly fought for the land which made Dasu fear that his family would lose the land. This fear allegedly led Dasu to hatch a plan to kill Srinivas. Since other suspects belong to the family from Dasu's side, they also joined him in the conspiracy and is supposed that they waited for a week to execute their plan.

On Saturday, they came to know that Srinivas will be attending a marriage in the neighbourhood and decided to kill him after the marriage.
