Bengaluru: Rape & murder - Accused to be nabbed soon?
Bengaluru: The Girinagar police, probing the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl that came to light on Sunday evening, are likely to arrest the accused soon as they have credible information on his whereabouts.
Anil, a tractor driver, is the accused in the case and a police team has gone to his village in Kalaburagi. Sources said that Anil was living with his wife and two children in a rented house at Janashakthi Nagar near Veeranna Layout in Hosakerehalli. "His family members had gone to their hometown a few days ago. On Thursday evening, the victim, Harishitha, was playing in front of her house. The accused was known to the girl and he took her to his house, where he raped and murdered her. After a while, he locked the house from outside and escaped. He told a neighbour that he was going to bring his wife and children back," the police said.
"Our team has already spoken to his wife and sisters. They told the team that Anil visited them after the incident and also revealed about the incident, which shocked them. He was reportedly scared that he would be arrested which would spoil his life. But he has left the house and has gone missing. We have credible information about him and he will be nabbed soon," the police said. Meanwhile, the post mortem was conducted on Harshitha's body at KIMS Hospital on Monday and the body was handed over to her parents.
