Nagpur: 15-year-old tied up and repeatedly raped by father, left pregnant

Nagpur: After being tied up and raped by her own father for the past one year, a 15-year-old girl, seven months pregnant, was rescued by a team of social workers and police on Friday.

The girl, a resident of Barad Pauri village close to Nagpur had shifted to the village over an year ago with her father and younger brother.

According to reports, the series of sexual assaults started last September when Sunita fell ill. Her alcoholic father, Dhanraj Irpache, tried to force himself on her, but when Sunita resisted, he tied her up and raped her.

The abuse became more frequent and became a regular affair for Sunita.

Sunita, who was a former class IX student, lost her mother a couple of years ago, and her brother is currently lodged in a correction home after he was arrested for theft.

Irapche, who works as a daily wage labourer, was arrested after a group of local social workers spotted Sunita, who was visibly pregnant.

The group, befriended Sunita to extract more information from her and learnt that despite knowing the sexual exploitation that the girl was being subjected to, the villagers did not intervene, given the 48-year-old's criminal history.

Irapche has been arrested and charged with rape and sexual assault of a minor after the local women’s group, organised by the police, convinced her to report the matter Jalalkheda police station.

Sunita is currently lodged in a relative’s place where she is being taken care of in view of advanced stages of pregnancy.
