Bengaluru: Elderly couple killed on Coles Road, decomposed bodies found

Murder took place on Friday. No forced entry: Cops

BENGALURU: The decomposed bodies of an elderly couple were found after they were brutally stabbed to death at their residence in Coles Road in Pulikeshinagar on Sunday evening.

The deceased couple, Parvatharaj (61) and Chandrakala (55), was living in a three–storied building, said a senior police officer. The incident occurred at the third floor where the couple was residing.

The couple had been living on the premises for over many years and reportedly had no animosity with anyone. Parvatharaj, was running a paper scrap business and the family had let out the two floors on rent, said a police officer.

Police said the couple was last seen on Friday morning around 8.30 am by neighbours and suspect that the murder may have occurred on late Friday noon. The couple had a son, who is currently in United States, and had rented out the ground floor portion to a clinic and first floor to a coaching institute. Kiran, the son of the elderly couple had visited them four months ago.

“Prima facie, it is a murder for vengeance. We are yet to ascertain the reason behind the brutal murder. While the male body had bore repeated stab injuries, the woman was stabbed once,” said N. Satheesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).

There were no signs of forced entry into the house, whereas when the police visited the crime scene the door was found locked from outside, said a senior police official. The murder came to light on Sunday evening, after a domestic help who had come to clean the coaching institute on the first floor sensed a foul smell emanating from the house and raised an alarm.

Immediately, the police was informed and they rushed to the spot along with sniffer dog squad, fingerprint and forensic experts. The Pulikeshinagar police have registered a case and have launched a probe in this regard.
