Kollam: Kollam DCC president Bindu Krishna has landed in trouble for posting on the Facebook a picture of herself along with the parents of the Rajasthani girl who was kidnapped from Oachira recently.

The Oachira police registered a case against her under sections of PoCSO Act for revealing the identity of the victim girl, which is a punishable offence.

Section 23 of the PoCSO Act states that no person shall disclose the identity of a child, including its name, address, photograph, family details, school, neighbourhood or any other particulars about it.

Bindu Krishna removed the picture when it sparked widespread protests on the social media. She had staged a 24-hour hunger strike in front of the missing girl's house in Oachira on Friday demanding the arrest of the main accused, Muhammad Roshan, 21, who is still absconding with the girl.

Investigation extended

The police team under Karunagappally ACP has extended the investigation to Rajasthan and Maharashtra, apart from Bengaluru. Look-out notices for the prime accused have also been issued in these states.

The police assume that the duo reached Ernakulam and left for Bengaluru by train. Their mobile phones are switched off. The police had taken Ananthu, 20, of Payikkuzhi, Bipin, 20, of Changankulangara, and Pyari from Oachira into custody. Pyari, who is a historysheeter, is wanted in another sexual assault case.

The four-member gang led by Roshan assaulted the parents of the girl in their shack and kidnapped her in a rented car around 10 p.m. on March 18.

The family has been living in Oachira for the past two years selling clay sculptures on the wayside near the Oachira - Valiyakulangara area.

The couple in their statement to the police said that they had been harassed by the gang for a long time.

The Kerala women's commission has taken a suo motu case and sought a report from the police chief in Kollam.
