KOLLAM: The police arrested Reshma, a resident of Kadappakkada here on Friday, for her involvement in the honey-trapping of a businessman at Thripunithura. A team of Thripunithura police made the arrest even as the cops suspect her role in rape of a 16-year-old child artist at Mundakkal here. Faisal, 27, of Kulappadam, Nedumpana, was arrested the other day following the complaint lodged by the minor girl.
According to the statement by the girl who filed a petition with the commissioner of police, it was Reshma who took her for a birthday bash at a house at Mundakkal where she was sexually assaulted eight months back. The co-accused in the case is absconding and the police are still in search of him. She also said that two other girls, working in an event management company, were involved in the rape which was suspected to be pre-planned. She was offered a chance in television serial and was invited to an office in Kollam on the pretext of discussions.
From there she was taken to a birthday bash of their acquaintance where she was raped. The girl hailing from Kottiyam has also appeared in several short films released recently. Meanwhile, Reshma was produced before a local court in Thrippunithura which remanded her in police custody. “She will be interrogated in connection with the honey trap case and after that will be handed over to the Kollam police in connection with the child artist rape case,” sources said.
