Kerala to seek gallows for Mohammed Nisham
Nisham argued that he was convicted based on a media trial and there is no evidence to award a jail term.

Kochi: State will file an appeal against Thrissur district court’s order awarding life term to Hummer murder accused Muhammed Nisham next week. State will seek death penalty for Nisham. According to DGP T Aasf Ali the state has finalised the petition and the same would be filed before the court next week. "We have analysed the trial court judgment and prepared a plea so that maximum punishment would be accorded to Muhammed Nisham," the DGP said.
Thrissur Additional Sessions Court had awarded life term and an additional 24 years of imprisonment in Chandrabose murder case. State would be arguing that the case falls in a rarest of rare category. Nisham had recently filed an appeal in the case against the sentence.
Nisham argued that he was convicted based on a media trial and there is no evidence to award a jail term. Nisham's prime contention is that the the death of security guard Chandra Bose happened due to some intervening events which happened during the period of admission in the hospital.
