Hyderabad: The East Zone Task Force intercepted a mini-lorry at Amberpet on Saturday and seized gutka worth Rs 50 lakh it was carrying.

A police official said the team was acting on a tip-off that gutka was being smuggled in the mini-lorry.

The police intercepted the vehicle and upon searching it found the cargo of gutka. The smugglers were bringing the gutka from manufacturing units in Karnataka for sale in Hyderabad.

Three people were arrested and the material worth Rs 50 lakh was seized from the vehicle, police said. The consignment and the trio along with the vehicle was handed over to the Amberpet police.
