Hyderabad: DNA helps crack case, accused gets 10 year jail
Hyderabad: The first Additional Metropolitan Sessions judge for trial of cases under PoCSO has sentenced Golla Suresh, 23, to 10 years imprisonment, as he was guilty of raping a minor.
The incident took place in 2016 under Karkhana police limits. The man had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl under the pretext of marrying her.
The victim and her parents then went and pleaded Suri to marry her as she was pregnant.
However, the accused refused to marry the girl citing caste differences and insulted her parents. The girl belongs to Schedule Caste.
Subsequently, the girl who did not terminate her pregnancy, gave birth to a baby at Gandhi Hospital. However, the child did not survive. “After conducting a series of tests, including a DNA test, the accused was proved to be the father of the child and guilty of rape.
The accused was found guilty under Section 5 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act 2012 and punishable under Section 6 of the PoCSO Act and under Section 376 (2) (i), 376 (2) (m) and 420 of Indian Penal code.
