Chennai: 34-year-old held for killing his parents
CHENNAI: A 34-year-old man murdered his mother at his residence in Red Hills after she refused to get him married for the third time. After the murder, he surrendered before a revenue official, from where police secured him. However, police were in for a shock as it was revealed that a week ago, he had murdered his father too and passed it off among relatives as a natural death.
The arrested man, V. Murugan, is a resident of Naravarikuppam near Red Hills. Police investigations revealed that he was a drug and porn addict. He was married twice and both his wives left him due to his vices. Meanwhile, Murugan was pestering his parents Venu and Lakshmi to get him married again.
On Wednesday, Murugan’s elder brother had visited home to find Lakshmi lying in a pool of blood and informed the police. Red Hills police rushed to the scene on information and found that the woman was murdered using a penknife.
Murugan was missing and eventually surrendered before the Naravarikuppam village administrative officer (VAO) Farhath Hussain. Red Hills police secured him and booked him on charges of murder.
During investigations, it was revealed that Murugan murdered his father Venu (84) too after he questioned his wayward ways and asked him to go to work.
While Lakshmi was aware that Venu died after her son pushed him down, she too maintained that her husband died after a slip and fall in the bathroom, police said. His body was cremated the very next day.
The arrested person was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
