Two city youth involved in Darbhanga blasts: NIA

Nasir Khan and Imran Malik fabricated the IED using locally procured chemicals and placed it in a parcel of clothes, the NIA said

Hyderabad: City resident Mohammed Nasir Khan was trained in espionage and handling ammunition in Pakistan and had fabricated IEDs that were booked as a parcel on the Secunderabad-Darbhanga Express, the National Investigation Agency has alleged in its charge sheet. It was meant to trigger blasts in trains when they were travelling, the NIA said in the charge sheet against five persons, including two from the city, in connection with Darbhanga railway station blasts of June 17.

Charges were framed against Mohammed Nisar Khan (Nisar Malik) and Imran Malik, natives of Kairana presently residing in Hyderabad, Saleem Ahmed (Haji Saleem), Kafil Ahmed and Iqbal Mohammed.

The NIA stated that during investigation it was revealed that the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT) operatives had planned to set on fire a moving long-distance train by placing incendiary improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so that there could be a massive loss of life and property.

On the directions of Pakistan-based LeT operative Hafeez Iqbal alias Iqbal Kana, Nasir Khan and Imran Malik fabricated the IED using locally procured chemicals and placed it in a parcel of clothes, the NIA said.

Investigation also revealed that Nisar Khan had travelled to Pakistan for training and funds, the NIA said. After the incident, Pakistan-based handlers tried to facilitate the escape of the arrested accused to a foreign country through Nepal. However, they were arrested by the NIA before they could escape.
