Hyderabad: A TD candidate from Ibrahimpatnam, Sama Reddy, has been booked for cheating and forgery by the Nampally police on Friday.
His family members allege that Reddy forged his signature on property papers and was cheating them, said Saifabad ACP C. Venu Gopal Reddy.
The police received a complaint on Thursday from P. Laxma Reddy, the candidate’s relative, following which cases were booked under Section 420 (Cheating), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (Using forged document as genuine) of IPC, police said.
Explaining about the allegation, Nampally police inspector, A. Subhash Chandra Bose said that Laxma Reddy and one Raj Kumar were partners in a business, in which Sama Reddy joined as a partner later.
He then forged the signatures of the duo and cheated them.
“We have started an investigation and will check the said documents and the signatures for authenticity. No arrests have been made yet,” concluded the ACP.
