Hyderabad: 3 arrested for dacoity, Rs 14 lakh recovered
Hyderabad: A three-member gang was caught by the Ramgopalpet police for pulling off an act wherein two men, posing as sales tax officers, fled with Rs 14 lakh and 25 tolas of gold after robbing the driver of a parcel service, who was an acquaintance of the perpetrators.
The driver, Mukesh Kumar Saran, 23, was well aware of the money and gold that was packed in a gunny bag at his owner’s shop, said the police.
“His associates, identified as Santosh Gouda, 25, and Gudisala Vishnu, 27, were working as courier boys with the driver before. They were planning the theft for three months,” said the police.
“On Wednesday, Mukesh, along with his assistant, Yousuf, were on the way to Nampally railway station. Santosh and Vishnu followed the vehicle from James Street railway station on bike and intercepted the vehicle at Ambedkar T junction, posing as sales tax department officers and demanded to check the vehicle.
Vishnu took Yousuf towards Neck-lace Road on his bike as per the plan. After the property was stolen, Santosh called Vishnu and both of them fled from the scene,” said Joel Davis, DCP, Central Zone. When Yousuf returned, the driver acted innocent and returned to the shop.
Vinod Kumar Saini, the owner of VBS Parcel Services at Parklane, noticed that the money and gold were missing and lodged a complaint with the Ramgopalpet police. On swift interrogation, the driver confessed and the police arrested the whole gang.
