Three women die by suicide in separate incidents in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Three women ended their lives in separate incidents in the city since Monday.

M. Nandini, 27, died by suicide at their house in Madannapet as she was not able to breastfeed her three-month-old baby. Police said she faced a medical problem and was unable to feed her daughter. She had been staying in her maternal home and had gone to her house on October 21 to attend a function.

In a separate incident, 36-year-old S Chandana, suffering from a long-recurring infection in her leg following an accident, died by suicide at her house in Priva Colony, Asifnagar. Police said that she had suffered an accident 12 years ago, and was operated for a right leg fracture. This was before her marriage 12 years ago. Police said the spot became infected and there was no improvement despite treatment.

In another incident, 24-year-old G. Janvi Priva attempted suicide at her house. She was shifted to a hospital where she succumbed on Monday. Asifnagar police said Janvi was taking treatment for depression for nine months after she got divorced.

Police arrest man with hashish oil

Hyderabad: Acting on technical evidence and specific information, Meerpet police arrested one Bobba Surya Prakash and seized 3.5 kg hashish oil worth Rs 17.50 lakh from his possession near Manda Mallamma crossroads. Prakash, 29, a Mulugu native, said he had secured the contraband from one Pothuraju, who is absconding, said Meerpet inspector K. Kiran Kumar.

Five held for possessing heroin

Hyderabad: The LB Nagar special operations team arrested five persons for possession of 100 grams of heroin worth '12 lakh and seized the contraband, The arrested included Bajrang Bishnoi, 21, a peddler, Mahender Bishnoi, 19, transporter, and three consumers who had come to the city three years back and were working as gas cylinder delivery agents. All the accused belonged to Phalodi district of Rajasthan, police said.

Police arrest KNPS leader for inciting people

Hyderabad: Police on Tuesday arrested Kula Nirmulana Porata Samithi (KNPS) leader D. Chandrasekhar and Bandari Lakshmaiah, All India Society for the Eradication of Caste Inequality for provoking protestsers to attack the police in Chittanoor village of Narayanpet district last week.
Seven personnel — an inspector, a sub-inspector and five constables, three of them women, — of the Makthal police were injured in an attack by hundreds of protesters who had stopped a truck carrying ethanol from entering Chittanoor of Marikal mandal.

Police had arrested 50 protesters and were in search of provocateurs, Narayanpet inspector Ravi Babu said.

Telangana Federation of Traders Union (TFTU) state general secretary S.M. Khalil, in a press release, said that Chandrasekhar and Lakshmaiah were being kept in police stations against the law without allowing anyone to meet them and demanded their immediate release.
