TIRUPATI: A 32-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in Nagalapuram mandal’s Dwaraka Nagar late on Saturday. According to police, her husband, the prime suspect, is absconding.
The woman, identified as Shanthi, was married to one Suresh around five years ago and they have a four-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter. There were frequent quarrels between them as the husband suspected her fidelity and beat her frequently.
The incident came to light in the middle of the night after Shanthi’s children called their neighbours for help. However, on reaching, the neighbours saw the lifeless body of Shanthi on the floor. They alerted the Nagalapuram police and a team, led by SI Hanumanthappa, reached the house and collected details from the children, who held their father and his mother responsible. Police are suspecting it as murder.
“Prima-facie it seems like the accused strangled his wife after an argument in the middle of the night and fled from the house. A case has been registered and we have launched a manhunt to nab him”, police said.
