Kurnool: A 55-year-old woman, who begs for a livelihood and resides at a local bus shelter, was raped in Koilakuntla late on Saturday. According to Allagadda Circle Inspector P. Hanumanthu Naik, the victim, Gajula Jahidunnisa, an unmarried woman from Sanjamala, had been living in Koilakuntla for some time, away from her native village.
On Saturday midnight, an unidentified person arrived at the bus stand area and told her that her brother from Sanjamala had sent him to fetch her.
Trusting his words, she followed him on his bike. He sexually assaulted her during the journey and then fled the scene. Local police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter. The Circle Inspector stated that the victim has been sent to the hospital for medical examinations and they are working to locate the accused.
