New Delhi: Man ends suicide bid after drama
New Delhi: High drama prevailed at a hotel in West Delhi on Sunday after a 31-year-old “TikTok star” climbed onto the terrace of a hotel to end his life, but climbed down after 17 long hours thanks to the persistence and persuasion of officials of the fire department.
The negotiations between the man and officials of the fire and police department carried on through the night, during which the man, Sandeep alias Arman Malik, posted three videos. The first video, in which he threatened suicide, went viral and Sandeep’s followers increased significantly. Sandeep is a TikTok star and has about 50 lakh followers on the gaming app.
Police said that Sandeep first climbed the sixth floor of the hotel in Hari Nagar, and then went up to the terrace, the hotel’s 10th floor, where he threatened to commit suicide to his wife by threatening to jump off the terrace. The attempt to end his life was apparently triggered by an altercation with his former wife over a case of molestation pending against him.
Sandeep has alleged that the molestation case, registered against him by his domestic help earlier this year, was done at the behest and on the instructions of his first wife.
According to sAources, Sandeep had checked into the hotel at 1:30 PM on Sunday with his second wife Kritika Basera. And later his first wife came to the hotel following which an altercation broke out between the two. She allegedly threatened him with dire consequences.
After climbing onto the rooftop, Sandeep put up a video on TikTok threatening to commit suicide. The video went viral and within hours of uploading the video, Sandeep’s followers increased significantly. He had uploaded two videos of suicide threats at the same period.
In one of the videos, Sandeep said, "My wife first Payal and her family members together framed me in a rape case." In another video he mentions his maid and someone named Neeraj. In the third video, Sandeep uploaded a letter threatening suicide on his TikTok account. In this letter he blames Payal and her sisters.
