MALAPPURAM: A 12-year-old girl was sexually abused by over 30 people for two years at Chelari in the district. Two people, including the girl's father, were arrested by Tirurangadi police under various sections of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act on Sunday. Her statement was recorded before the magistrate.
The abuse was exposed when the local people alerted the PTA members of the school about the frequent skipping of classes by the girl. She was also found mentally disturbed. The school authorities informed the Childline authorities. She was produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Saturday and sheltered at children's home in Malappuram.
According to Childline authorities, the girl is the only child of the family which is staying in a rented house. Her father acted as the middleman for the customers, including his friends. She was forced to skip school many days due to the pressure by her father.
