Maharashtra AIMIM corporator detained

The police had registered a case against him for promoting enmity between members of different communities.

Hyderabad: Controversial corporator of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation Sayeed Mateen Rashid was detained by the Aurangabad police under the under Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug-Offenders and Dangerous Persons Act (MPDA), 1981 for a year.
AIMIM legislator from Aurangabad Imtiyaz Jaleel termed the move by the police as “harsh”.

The corporator was in the news recently for a brawl during a meeting held to condole the death of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The corporator was allegedly ‘attacked’ by the BJP and Shiv Sena corporator inside the AMC meeting hall when he opposed the resolution to pay tribute to the former Prime Minister. The followers of the corporator attacked the driver of the BJP corporator and damaged the car.

The police had registered a case against him for promoting enmity between members of different communities.
