Warangal: Driver rams into family of five soon after performing puja for new car
Warangal: Five members of a family, including a three-year-old child, were severely injured when a driver lost control of his car and crashed into them at the Bhadrakali Temple in Warangal on Wednesday.
The incident took place within the temple premises, near the main gate, where pujas for new vehicles were being conducted.
According to the police, Paruchuri Shivaji had brought his new Maruthi Suzuki Vitara Breeza to the temple for a puja to be carried out. After the puja, he started the car with the intention of driving it out of the temple. However, being an amateur driver, he lost control of it and crashed into another new car that was parked ahead of him, smashing its rear windscreen. The driver began to panic, and drove the vehicle further, hitting a family that was walking into the temple. He hit several two-wheelers parked along the roadside before crashing into the boundary wall and coming to a halt.
The people who got hit by the car suffered fractures to their legs and ribs. The child sustained severe injuries including blows to the head. An ambulance was called for, and the victims were immediately shifted to MGM Hospital, where they were treated. They have been declared out of danger.
The police have taken the driver into custody.
