Bengaluru: Kin allege murder, body exhumed

Victim died three days after completing land sale, claims brother.

Bengaluru: Sarjapur police have exhumed the body of a 58-year-old man to carry out its post-mortem after the brother of the deceased alleged that his brother did not die a natural death, but was murdered.

The deceased, Ayyappa Reddy, a resident of Handenahalli village in Anekal taluk, died on July 31 and was buried in a graveyard on the same day. Later, the deceased’s brother, Ramakrishna Reddy, approached the Sarjapur police and charged that his brother was murdered and alleged involvement of Ayyappa’s wife and the person to whom Ayyappa had sold his land.

According to Ramakrishna, Ayyappa sold his 39 guntas of land for Rs 80 lakh to repay the loan he had taken. Surprisingly, he died three days after the deal. This is not a natural death. He was murdered, he told the police.

After the complaint, police visited the spot, exhumed the body and sent it for post-mortem. “We are awaiting the report and based on its finding, we will carry out the investigation,” Amith Singh, Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru Rural) told Deccan Chronicle.
