Karimnagar cop involved in suicide abetment case surrenders before SP

He was produced before a local court that sent him to judicial remand.

Hyderabad: Karimnagar’s controversial cop and loan shark B. Mohan Reddy surrendered before the district SP in connection with a recent abetment-to-suicide case on Tuesday. The ASI had been booked in two separate cases for pushing two people, a school teacher and a farmer, to committing suicide by harassing them for huge interest. ASI Mohan Reddy had been arrested earlier for another abetment to suicide case but he had been released on bail after a few weeks. Tuesday’s surrender is in connection with a new case, in which a farmer had killed himself alleging harassment by Reddy.

He was produced before a local court that sent him to judicial remand. Mohan Reddy is infamous for being an illegal financier who tortured his victims to extort money from them. The murky financial deals of the cop came out when a private school owner, R. Pras-ada Rao, in Karimn-agar town had committed suicide. In the suicide note, Rao, who had taken a loan of Rs 50 lakh from the cop, had blamed the ASI for his death. Following a complaint lodged by Rao’s wife, the police had registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused along with money laundering charges.
