Bengaluru: Duo attempts to rape woman in flat, held

The HSR Layout police arrested the two from ring road on Monday and booked them under Section 354 of IPC.

Bengaluru: The HSR Layout police on Monday arrested two men for attempting to rape a 38-year-old woman after scaling the wall of an apartment in Bellandur.

The arrested are Prasonjit Pal, 20, who hailed from West Bengal and worked in a bar and restaurant Bakasur, and Mithun Naik, 20, who hailed from Odisha and worked as a security guard for the past five months.

Around 1.30 am on August 16, Prasonjit with the help of Mithun gained access into the building, climbed to the first floor apartment of the complainant, Anitha (name changed), who hails from Mumbai, with the help of a water pipe and tried to rape her. Anitha, who woke up, raised an alarm and alerted the neighbours and other security guards.

They rushed to her rescue and caught a fleeing Prasonjit. Anitha approached the police on Sunday night and filed the complaint. The HSR Layout police arrested the two from ring road on Monday and booked them under Section 354 of IPC.

Nigerian arrested
The CCB police have arrested a Nigerian national on charges of peddling drugs. The accused, Adinife F. Aphael Ogugua, 37, hails from Lagos in Nigeria and was a resident of Bande Hosurhalli in Bidarahalli Hobli near Bagalur.

The police had received information about a Nigerian supplying drugs in Bagalur area.

Based on the tipoff, the police arrested the accused. The police seized 260 gm of cocaine worth Rs 13 lakh and two mobile phones from him.

“The accused was involved in drug peddling to make easy money. He was getting narcotic substances from other Nigerians and sold them to college students and other known customers. He was charging Rs 5,000 for one gram of cocaine,” police said.
