3 held for looting garments from truck in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: The Malleswaram police have arrested three men for assaulting a lorry driver and taking away readymade garments worth Rs 15 lakh from the vehicle.
The accused have been identified as Srinivas, 28, of Sai Baba Nagar in Srirampura, Vinay, 29, of Srirampura, and Bharath, 23, of Kububarahalli.
According to the police, on August 16, a night beat policeman noticed a goods auto moving suspiciously. He stopped the vehicle at Malleswaram 8th Cross and one of the occupants managed to escape while the other was detained. The auto was seized and readymade garments were found in it.
“When the detained person was questioned, he revealed that he along with four others had committed a dacoity on August 3.
The gang of five members had followed a lorry in an auto and a two-wheeler that was transporting readymade garments from a warehouse in Kengeri. They assaulted and waylaid the lorry driver at MES Railway Gate near Jalahalli. They tied his hands and drove the lorry till Nagamangala in Mandya. They then shifted some of the readymade garments from the lorry to the auto.
While two of the accused returned in the auto to the city, the remaining three took the lorry to Suntikoppa in Kodagu and abandoned it there. The lorry driver later filed a complaint with the Suntikoppa police,” police said.
Based on the information provided by the detained person, the two other accused were arrested. Efforts are on to nab the other two absconding accused. Readymade garments worth Rs 15 lakh, a goods auto and a two-wheeler have been recovered from the accused.
