Man dies in drunken brawl

HYDERABAD: An argument that ensued between a group of friends related to consumption of alcohol at a birthday party, had led to the death of a teenager identified as Putta Sanjay at LB Nagar, police said on Sunday.

Sanjay, who was injured in a drunken brawl on July 16, died undergoing treatment on Sunday morning.

Police said on July 16, Sanjay along with five others while consuming alcohol in a building, entered into an argument as one of them objected to another member consuming more alcohol.

This took a nasty turn and one, Ravi kicked Sanjay on the chest. Sanjay who was also in an inebriated condition fell down.

After some time, his friends assumed that he became unconscious due to excess alcohol consumption and dropped him home. His parents were also under the same impression, but when he did not wake up even the next day, they noticed swelling in his stomach and rushed him to a private hospital. During treatment, he was also diagnosed with a head injury and succumbed to injuries.
LB Nagar police registered a murder case and started an investigation. They are also on the lookout for Ravi and their other friends involved in the brawl.
