Noida-based scribe booked for airing Owaisi’s morphed video
HYDERABAD: The city cybercrime police on Saturday booked cases against Noida-based Suresh Chavhanke for telecasting morphed video of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on his Sudarshan TV news channel.
The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Mohammed Irfan Khan, a representative of the AIMIM. He also produced the morphed videos posted on the channel's Facebook page before the police. The videos had captions allegedly hurting religious sentiments and inciting hatred between two communities, the police sources said.
Irfan Khan said such morphed videos were conveying false messages to a particular community and provoking them.
Cases under the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) were registered and a first information report was filed against Chavanke for telecasting false news on his channel that may hurt religious sentiments of a community.
“We have collected the morphed videos and registered a case against Sudarshan TV channel owner Suresh Chavanke. We will investigate the case and if required, will issue notice to the accused,” a senior police officer said.
