Hyderabad: Depressed over his wife allegedly going missing, a 31-year-old man committed suicide in Uppal on Sunday. K Yakaiah was married to Ravali a month ago. His family alleged that he was depressed due to harassment from his wife. An case of abetment to suicide has been registered.

Police said differences cropped between the couple a few days after marriage. Ravali went missing from home last Wednesday, when Yakaiah was at work. After searching for her, the family lodged a complaint and a missing case was registered with the Uppal police.

His family alleged she could have been in a relationship with some other person, but her parents married her to Yakaiah by force.

“She was harassing him from the beginning, but he was patient and hoping that she would change. He fell into depression after she ran away from home. Unable to bear that pain, he committed suicide.” said Yakaiah’s brother Bhasker. On Sunday morning, he consumed a pesticide at the bus stop near Little Flower Junior College in Uppal. Passersby who noticed him lying in the bus stop alerted the police. He was dead by then, and the police shifted the body for autopsy. Police said they were looking for Ravali.
