Bengaluru: Drug peddler stabs constable during raid

Around 5.30 pm they raided the spot and tried to nab the gang of around 10 people.

Bengaluru: The Byadarahalli police fired five rounds in the air and nabbed seven drug peddlers after they allegedly stabbed a constable with a knife when he tried to catch him. The incident took place in Venkatappa Layout near Ullal on the city outskirts on Sunday evening.

Sabareddy, 27, a constable attached to Byadarahalli police station in Ramangara district, sustained injuries as the miscreants attacked him with a knife.

According to the police, they received credible information that a gang of drug peddlers were trying to sell ganja at Venkatappa Layout. A police team headed by Byadarahalli police inspector Sathyanarayan rushed to the spot.

Around 5.30 pm they raided the spot and tried to nab the gang of around 10 people. In a bid to escape from the police, one of the miscreants allegedly attacked constable Sabareddy with a knife when he tried to catch him and he sustained injuries on his hand.

“As the accused were escaping, the inspector opened five warning shots in the air and we managed to nab seven of them,” the police said.
