According to the police, Gouramma, a resident of B. K. Nagar, had gone to vegetable market on July 10. A woman approached her and told her that her unmarried daughter was pregnant and she was in need of money.

When Gouramma said she had no money, the woman offered to exchange her gold chain with Gouramma’s chain, weighing 60 grams. When Gouramma refused, the woman insisted that if she gave her gold chain, she would pledge and get money out of it.

“Then 4-5 men appeared and offered help that they would pledge Gouramma’s chain and help the woman with money. After receiving the chain from the woman, Gouramma gave away hers. After returning home, she realised that she was duped, as the chain was made of fake gold.
