Bengaluru: The Jayanagar police produced realtor Ganesh H.K. (49), charged with killing his wife and attempting to kill his two children, before the magistrate which remanded his judicial custody on Saturday.

Ganesh reportedly shot three bullets on his wife over a financial dispute on Thursday at his residence in Jayanagar and then attempted to kill his two of his three children on Friday.

He was arrested on Friday by the Jayanagar police. Ganesh, however, kept changing his statements during police interrogation.

A police officer said that after killing his wife and opening fire at his children, Ganesh slipped into depression and was behaving abnormally.

As he kept changing his statements, we decided not to take his custody as it be of no use to us. We will seek his custody and resume the investigation after he recovers from the depression, he said.

Ganesh allegedly had incurred crores of debt and was allegedly being harassed by the lenders. On Thursday, Ganesh told police that he and his wife Sahana (42) decided to commit suicide after killing their three children.

The couple decided that Ganesh would first kill Sahana, later three children and then shoot himself. But after killing his wife, Ganesh changed his mind and took his elder son in a car to pick up other two children from school and escaped to evade arrest.

According to police, Ganesh along with his children, headed to his resort in Kanakapura where he again changed his mind and decided to kill his two children and kill himself, while sparing his elder son who is mentally challenged.

He shot at his younger son (12) and the adopted daughter (9) in the abdomen in his SUV’s rear seat. Based on the information provided by the passerby who heard the gunshots, Ganesh was traced and nabbed in Banagiri near Anchepalya on Friday night.

However, when questioned about his act, Ganesh initially told police that he killed his wife because she opposed his plan to sell the property worth crores and later kept changing his statements when asked why he tried to kill his children.

Meanwhile, Sahana’s post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members. The two children who sustained bullet injuries have undergone surgery and are recovering at the hospital.

Ganesh, who owns a resort and a coffee plantation, but of late he had incurred huge debts. He allegedly borrowed Rs 20-30 crore loan for business investment and incurred huge loss.
