Hyderabad: Woman's hand gets severed in auto mishap, dies later

A DCM van travelling in the opposite direction hit the auto and cut her arm off at the armpit.

Hyderabad: A woman lost her life after meeting with an accident within the limits of Chevella Police Station on Monday. The deceased was identified as Fareeda Begum (22), “Fareeda was on her way from Rajendra Nagar to Kodangal, in an auto-rickshaw, along with her father, mother, husband, and daughter, at about 6.45 am. Since there were many people in the small vehicle, her arm was hanging out.

A DCM van travelling in the opposite direction hit the auto and cut her arm off at the armpit,” said Guruvaiah Goud, the Inspector of Chevella Police Station.

Fareeda's husband immediately asked the driver of the auto-rickshaw to take them to Hyderabad, so that he could have her admitted to a hospital. He also called his brother and asked him to pick up the severed arm and bring it to the hospital. However, Fareeda died by the time they reached Moinabad junction.

A case was booked against the driver of the DCM van under Section 304 (A) for causing death by negligence. Mr Goud said that the accused was absconding, but he would be tracked down soon. A post-mortem will be conducted at Chevella Government Hospital.
