Visakhapatnam: Cops in dark over woman's murder
VISAKHAPATNAM: Even three weeks after the murder of 75-year-old Ratna Bharati at East Point Colony area, Vizag city police is still groping in the dark with no leads coming their way. They have several angles to work on, but they failed to get a single concrete clue to solve the murder mystery. Ratna Baby Bharati was found dead in mysterious circumstances at her residence in East Point Colony, under MVP Police station limits on February 27 morning.
Ratna Bharati, stayed alone in the ground floor of the house and her daughter and son-in-law stayed on the first floor. She was found dead with her hands tied behind her back with a sari and her mouth gagged with a piece of cloth. One gold chain was missing from the woman. A senior police officer on condition of anonymity said that although cops have been quizzing several persons, including the milkman, paperboy and few others, they apparently got no clue.
ACP (East) A.N. Murthy said that the culprit might have entered the house from the back door and committed the crime. Since the incident took place in the early hours, police got very little information about the visitors to the house on that day. “Though the crime took place in the posh area of Vizag city, we did not get any CCTV footage as there were no surveillance cameras at the location,” said a police officer.
“Except murder for gain, we don’t have any new angle to investigate into the case. We are busy gathering information about some new gangs as someone known to her might have been involved in the crime,” said the police team.
